A Closer Look:
The low voltage, radiant heat systems contain four main components:
1) Rough-in Kit - This kit includes cold lead, and a back plate for hanging the Control Unit. The back plate is attached to
two wall studs and is heavy duty for hanging the 90+ lb. Control Unit.
2) Heating Element - Either Zmesh or Tuff Cable can be used as
the heating element to heat under your tile floors. Tuff Cable can only be installed in mortar, where as Zmesh can be installed under
any floor surface. One of our radiant heat specialists can help determine which heating element will be best for your tiled floor.
3) Control Unit - The Control Unit contains the brains of the system, along with the step down transformer, which converts the line voltage (220 V.)
to the low voltage (60 V. or less). The Control Unit uses the same 17"x12"x8" box for each system that will heat 10 to 750 sq. ft., and uses a different
sized Transformer, depending on the size of the area to be heated. The advanced circuitry in the Control Units regulates the system assuring safe, accurate, and optimal performance.
4) Activation Device - Our 100% automated thermostats save energy and turn on the system when desired. Thermostats are available that sense the temperature of the floor or air.
